Red chicken

This is a quick ,simple and very easy recipe. I sometimes do this when I have marinated chicken in the fridge and do not have time . It can be done in less than 15 minutes if we have the ingredients ready


Chicken-1 lb.( boneless and skinless, preferably thighs)

oil-2 tbsp.

garlic-3 cloves( finely chopped)

onion-1 medium( finely diced)

mustard seeds-1/2 tsp.

For marinating:

red chili powder-1 tsp. or less

Turmeric powder-1/4th tsp.

salt-1/2 tsp. or to taste.


Soya sauce-2 tsp. or to taste

tomato ketchup-2 tbsp. or to taste.

vinegar-2 tbsp.( rice wine)

1.Marinate chicken with salt, turmeric and red chili powder at least for 6 hours .

2.Take oil in a cooking pot, add mustard seeds, garlic, onions ,fry for a minute and add marinated chicken .Let it cook for 5 minutes with lid closed and add rice wine vinegar,soya sauce and tomato ketchup. continue to cook with lid closed until completely cooked .

3.garnish with cilantro and green onions if desired.
