Red Tilapia

This is a very simple recipe that tastes great ,especially when fresh Tilapia’s are used. This can be used as a basic recipe to use the fish in curry, fish sandwich, fish tacos, burritos or anything you can think of…It also tastes great by itself.

Tilapia- 1 lb.( approximately 2-3 fillets)
Red chili powder- 1 tsp. or to taste
Salt-1/2 tsp. or to taste
Turmeric powder-1/4th tsp.
oil-3 tbsp.( 1 tbsp.. for 1 fillet)
Lime juice-2-3 tsp.

Extra oil for shallow frying step.

Garnish: onions(sliced), cilantro(chopped) and lime juice .

Method: Marinate the fish with salt, turmeric powder, chili powder and lemon juice( for at least 4 hours)

coat the baking dish with non-stick oil spray or oil and place the fillets (make sure not to stack them) bake for about 20 minutes@ 400 degrees.

Take the fillets out , let it cool down and shallow fry them in oil.
Pre baking before shallow fry reduces the amount of oil and also shallow frying step adds a great taste.

serve with cilantro, onions and lime juice.

If you are freezing the fish ,this recipe is great as you can freeze right after baking the fish and take the fish out of the freezer and shallow fry them before serving.
