Shrimp Patia


Shrimp- 1 lb.
Oil- 2 tbsp. (vegetable or canola oil)
Onions- 1 (chopped)
Tomatoes- 1 (chopped)
Tomato puree- ½ cup.
Ginger garlic- 2 tsp.
Green chili- 1-2 (chopped).
Tamarind- 1 1/2 tsp.
Jaggery- 1 12/tsp (palm sugar or regular sugar will also work)
Curry leaves- few strands (optional)

Turmeric- 1/4th tsp.
Red chili powder- ½ tsp. or more according to taste
Garam Masala- ½ tsp.
Cumin powder- ½ tsp. (roasted preferably).

1. Take oil in a pan, add onions, add ginger garlic paste, green chili and add in curry leaves.
2. Add dry spices-turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala and roasted cumin powder.
3. Add chopped tomatoes, tomato puree and add shrimp (cook for 8 minutes). Add tamarind and jaggery at the end of the cooking process.
4. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
